Brewing Kombucha for Gut health Wednesday April 7, 2021 - 10 am to 11 am
Cost $35 Gut Health seem to be two words that you hear often these days, but what is all the fuss about and what does it mean for you? Why is it so important? In this workshop we will talk more about why it is so important to maintain a healthy gut, the foods you should be eating to help and the foods you need to be avoiding. Fermented foods like the drink Kombucha is one of the things you could be enjoying to support your gut health. If you are already a Kombucha lover, you will have been paying a lot to enjoy it. Kombucha costs pennies to make. If you are not already a Kombucha lover, did you know that when you make your own Kombucha you can control how vinegary it tastes? You can brew Kombucha anywhere from 7 to 30 days, the longer your brew the more vinegary it will taste. I am not a fan of vinegary foods, so I was very pleasantly surprised with my first batch of Kombucha, as it had a lovely slightly sweet tea flavour. When I was happy with the taste I moved to the bottling stage and adding in some of my favourite flavours like ginger and strawberry before the second fermentation adds in the bubbles I love. Delicious! Join me in this workshop where you will have the opportunity to start off the Kombucha process by first making your very own SCOBY (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast) which does the brewing. You can buy a SCOBY or get one from a friend, but I enjoyed starting my very own from scratch. Once your SCOBY is made you are off and away to make your own Kombucha! Once registered you will receive a list of required items for the workshop. |
